Obama also showered praises on US Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., who was present in the White House and was in full support of providing a legal path to undocumented workers and also a guest worker program.
Obama said after the meeting that it has been acknowledged that the estimated twelve million or so undocumented workers who are living in the US without paying taxes in the manner in which the government would have liked them to, who live in shadows, have to be dealt with in a practical way. He said that he believes that people of America are ready to go his way, but cautioned that the process would not be easy and it would require some very good policy making coupled with great common sense.
Speaking on his former campaign foe, Obama said that he would especially like to praise John McCain who is on his side at this moment, because along with people like Lindsay Graham, he has already given a lot in order to stand by the right thing.
Obama also said on Thursday that US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will be assigned an important position on the push for immigration reform.
