Australia police busts Sexual Slavery Ring

Australian Police busted international sex ring and freed a group of 10 South Korean women forced into sexual slavery.

These women had been allegedly, forced to work in a leading Sydney brothel with annual turnover exceed three million US dollars. These helpless women had been forced to work for up to 20 hours a day. Immigration department spokeswoman Lyn O'Connell, immediately after the arrests of three women and two men, told waiting newspersons that this is probably the largest alleged syndicate smashed in Australia.

The syndicate used to recruit women in Korea by deceiving them about the conditions under which they would be employed and then brought them to Australia using forged documents. The kingmpin of the syndicate, a 46-year-old Sydney woman, has been charged with running a business involving sexual slavery, handling the proceeds of crime and offences against the Migration Act. If convicted, she could face up to 25 years in jail. Her accomplices could face imprisonment for period up to 15 years.

Police said the women had agreed to come to Australia as sex workers but their passports were confiscated and they were forced to accept conditions they had not agreed to. People close to rescued Koreans, however, say that they had come to Australia to work in the sex industry, but under more reasonable conditions.
