Fog returned to the national capital and enveloped the Delhi airport Saturday morning, affecting over two dozen flight schedules.
The freak fog covered the airport at around 7 a.m. and flight schedules were affected badly as the runway visibility was very poor. Till 8.30 a.m., 20 flights, most of them outgoing, were delayed and five incoming flights were diverted as well,' said an official of the Delhi Airport Authority Ltd (DIAL).
He added that one Dehradun-bound Air Deccan flight was cancelled. Incoming flights were diverted to places like Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
The runway visibility at 8.30 a.m. was fluctuating between 50-75 metres, the official said.
Only one of the two runways of the airport, enabled with facilities that help flights land and take-off during fog, was operational.
