They don't make movies like this anymore, a sentiment more moviegoers voice. So when you come out of the hall after watching LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE you want to hug the filmmakers for giving you a warm, entertaining, wholesome film that makes an ideal family outing.

The film revolves around a dysfunctional American family, the Hoovers, who travel from Albuquerque to California in a ramshackle van, so that their youngest member, seven year old Olive, can take part in the Little Miss Sunshine Beauty Pageant. During the Eventful journey, which involves push starting the bus, each member has to confront his/her own dreams, failures, heart breaks and finally discover a renewed affection and respect for each other.

The casting fits the characters like a glove. Academy award winner Alan Arkin is exceptional as the coke- snorting grand father. the young actor Paul dano as the quirky Dwayne gives an unbelievable controlled show of talent. Oscar nominated Abigail breslin as Olive in a natural talent, while Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette and Steve Carell serve as a rooted counterpoints.

The ensemble cast contributes largely to making it a charming and entertaining film. It is the direction of valerie Falris and Johnathon Dayton, who make their feature film debuts, and Michael Arndt's imaginative script that make the film memorable, Arndt's script is a warm look at an American family that thrives on its idiosyncrasies and a hard take on how America grooms its beauty queens by catching them at a tender age.

a mix of humor , emotions and high comedy, the road to the beauty pageant is eventful all the way though the culmination at the pageant is awkward.
