With the promos of ‘Golmaal-Fun unlimited’, you must have had a picture of the movie in your mind. If you want to free yourself from your mental stress and have loads of fun, then go check out this new release that hit the theatres on Friday. Neeraj Vohra has written some great comic lines for the movie that will surely keep you in splits.
Just like ‘Phir hera Pheri, ‘Garam Masala’ etc, this movie also follows two rules. First, when you go to watch the movie, leave your brains at home and second, don’t look for logic in the movie. The comedy is surely unlimited but the move has no content.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, this comedy has Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi and Tushshar Kapoor playing the major roles, whereas, Rimi Sen has little to do. As far as the plot is concerned, the movie doesn’t offer very much but with its jokes and non-stop entertainment, ‘Golmaal-Fun Unlimited’ is a success undoubtedly.
The story is about three friends who love to do mischief and con people for money and fun. Laxman (Sharman Joshi) is the most intelligent out of all the friends. His friends, Gopal (Ajay), Madhav (Arshad) and mute Lucky (Tushshar), do not let him pass out of the college. If they will, then his hotel room will also go out of their hands.
Soon the four friends are thrown out of the college because of their mischief and they don’t have any place to live. They discover a blind’s couples bunglow. The role of the blind couple is played by the king of comedy Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee. The couple have a daughter in law, son and grand son living in the U.S. Laxman pretends to be the couples grand child and the friends start living with the blind couple.
Hold on people, the fun is not yet over. The four friends fall in love with the same girl (Rimi Sen). They also discover a treasure chest and at the end, have to face a gangster who has come to the bunglow to take his diamonds that are hidden in the treasure chest.
The film is a total paisa vasool. Writer Neeraj Vora and director Rohit Shetty have done a great job in spinning a story that is packed with gags and punches.
There are a few blemishes in the film as well. The money lender, Mukesh Tiwari, seems to be a forceful character in to the plot. He has got relevance in the film. The love story between the four guys and the only heroine appeals, but the villain, played by Anupam Shyam isn’t convincing enough.
Music by Vishal-Shekar is average. Only the title track ‘Golmaal’ is sung stylishly by Shaan and K.K. The dialogues are written by Neeraj Vohra and are first rate. His lines are fresh and they evoke laughter without being crude.
Each person has done a good job. All the four actors have done justice to their respective characters.
To sum up, ‘Golmaal-Fun Unlimited’ is a must watch. It is a clean comedy with no vulgarity. It definitely promises fun unlimited.
