Dubai:-Officials of the Mumbai crime branch police have arrived in Dubai to investigate suspected cricket betting links allegedly involving Tarannum Khan, the 22-year-old crorepati bar dancer who wanted to be a Bollywood actress.
Indian diplomatic sources have confirmed that there have been requests from Indian investigating agencies in the past few days seeking the help of the UAE authorities to bust the betting racket, the Evening Post reported.
The officials are also meeting with the International Cricket Council, which has recently shifted its headquarters from Lords to Dubai.
The sources said the Mumbai police officials wanted to probe the alleged link between Tarannum and a Sri Lankan cricketer, adding that they had traced certain Dubai telephone numbers found on Tarannum's mobile phone.
The bar dancer had named a few people living in Dubai and Sharjah who could be involved in the betting scandal.
ICC had set up an Anti-Corruption and Security Unit to crack down on the betting racket.
