Allahabad:-A division bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Central and Uttar Pradesh governments to take steps towards controlling Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in the state.
Hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by one Udai Vir Singh of Gorakhpur, the two judge bench comprising Chief Justice A N Ray and Ashok Bhushan, directed both the governments to ensure supply of detection kits in all hospitals in affected region.
The court further directed both the governments to make JE vaccines available in the affected areas and submit a detailed report in this regard to the court.
The petitioner had alleged that non-availability of vaccines was the reason of JE.
