Nannies and live-in caregivers aspiring to work in Alberta are relieved from paying money in order to get job placement.
The government of Alberta has abolished the exemption that permitted placement agencies to charge the domestic workers to charge them for providing domestic works.
Service Minister of Alberta, Klimchuk says that the government has taken this decision after thoroughly examining this issue over years. This is especially in favour of nannies who come to Canada looking for domestic works.
Spokesperson of Service Alberta, Berezowsky has reported that the exemption has also been removed from the regulation of trade and business. The employment agencies not following the fair-trading act might face prosecution.
Berezowsky said that there are more than 600 licensed employment agencies, but there are considerable numbers of agencies that are not licensed. He says that it is difficult to keep a check on those agencies that are not registered, and to overcome this problem, all the agencies would be licensed by September 1. The legislation would also be applicable to the employment agencies out of Alberta.
Alberta outlawing job-placement fees is sure to bring some relief to nannies, live-in caregivers and other such employees who are look for domestic works.
