Former President Narayanan Critical

New Delhi -- Former President K.R. Narayanan was stated to be in a "critical" condition today as he spent the fifth day in Army's Research and Referral Hospital here.
The 85-year-old leader continues to be on ventilator and dialysis support, hospital sources said here late Wednesday. "He is critical but his vital parameters, including heart-beat and respiration, are alright," they said.
Narayanan, who was President between 1997 and 2002, is on sedatives but he is "not unconscious or comatosed (in coma)", they said. He was admitted to the hospital on October 29 after he complained of acute breathlessness and has since been on ventilator. Doctors attending him on are hopeful that his condition would improve in two-three days.
