Work Alabama’ temporary jobs initiative begins

United States, 14th October: ‘Work Alabama’ temporary jobs initiative has begun in Alabama, announced Government Robert Bentley.

The program has been introduced by the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. It aims to fill gaps left by undocumented immigrants following passing of a tougher Alabama immigration law.
What is ‘Work Alabama’—‘Work Alabama’ initiative aims to match temporary job opportunities with potential workers looking for temporary employment. The Alabama Department of Industrial Relations has streamlined this program to fill the employment void in this US state since the new Alabama immigration law has resulted in a large number of jobs lying vacant in landscaping and agriculture industries.
The application process as well as the process of listing the vacant jobs has been streamlined on career center website of Alabama. Additional resources are being pushed in to assist employers deal with government rules in hiring additional workforce for meeting needs.
Giving details about the new initiative, Governor Bentley said the program aims to help employers find temporary workers in Alabama with ease while eliminating the possibility of red tape. Moreover, it will also ensure that potential job seekers in Alabama are legal.
Program aims to cut unemployment rate in Alabama--The program is being hoped to cut down jobless rate in this US state which is hovering around 9.9 percent, adds Bentley. Industries in Alabama provide a large number of manual jobs and hence, are significant to Alabama’s economy, Governor added.
This program will act as a platform between potential workers looking for employment in Alabama on a temporary basis and employers on the lookout for potential workers for their businesses.
The official release stated that the new job list provided to potential Alabama employers will add names of job seekers in pursuit of temporary jobs.
Director of Alabama DIR, Tom Surtees, has been entrusted with heading the team of representatives from different industries including forestry, agriculture, manufacturing, trade and construction for assisting employment requirements across Alabama
. The team has to make suggestions to the government of Alabama state for meeting short-term as well as long-term needs of workforce.
Speaking about the team, Surtees said that the effort is to spread awareness to smaller employers with regard to the wealth of services that can be provided without any charges. Detailed employment placement services are extended to everyone in Alabama, he added.
