US immigration introduces new US visa process for Philippines


United States, 18th May: Those from the Philippines wanting to travel to America on a non-immigrant US visa (NIV) will find it easier to do so.

This is because applications for the US visa can now be made online using DS-160 form.

This was revealed by the US embassy in a news release in Manila on 17th May, 2010.

The new electronic and online form for the US visa applications will be replacing the earlier three paper forms thus making it faster and easier for various US visa applicants to fill the application form, the US embassy added.

Giving details about the major changes in the new online US visa form for non-immigrant visa, the US embassy said the DS-160 form will need to be submitted by going online. Another requirement for completion of the submission of the new online electronic US visa form will be to upload a recent digital picture of the applicant through the computer. 

The new online form for US visa applications will enable applicants to complete the application in parts /installments in accordance with the available time. This means that they can save the information they have filled in the online forms and complete the remaining part of the application form later on. The good thing is that information entered once can be used again or in a later application form.

The US Embassy in Philippines said that the new process for making US visa applications will begin on May 24, 2010 to give better service to the esteemed customers.

Meanwhile, all US visa paper forms and scheduled appointments for NIV before May 24, 2010 will be accepted, the embassy clarified.

Also, there has been no change in the rest of the application because all US visa applicants need to schedule appointment for the interview after completion of their online application.

The scheduling of the interview can be done either online or by calling official numbers of the US visa embassy at Philippines 1-909-101-7878. After this, applicants need to pay fee for the US visa at any approved point for fee collection.
