Undocumented immigrants find ways to careers in the US
by Patricia R - May 29, 2012
United States, 29th May: A large number of undocumented immigrants living in the US are now finding ways to carve a niche.

At last, they are able to overcome the obstacles to get US degrees and begin their career. Majority of such immigrants are those who had been brought here as children by their parents through unlawful ways.
Undocumented immigrants cash in on opportunities—Undocumented immigrants, as compared to regular US nationals, have to overstretch their limits if they want to go ahead, says a 24-year-old graduate from California State University, Adriana Sanchez.
When Sanchez came to Central California with her family from her native hometown Mexico, she was barely 12 years old. And being an undocumented immigrant in the US, she had no financial aid to fall back upon for pursuing her studies, no Social Security number or a US work permit to work in the US legally.
So, what helped Sanchez, an undocumented immigrant, her rise to her present position? It was her strong willpower that helped her to excel in academics during high school studies. And she paid her college fee by volunteering and won several internships.
And like many others, she has slogged her way to choose a career she loves, an independent contractor.
Undocumented immigrants surpassing their American counterparts—It is not difficult to see a large number of undocumented immigrants, armed with US college degrees, rise above American counterparts to land a job of their dreams in the US.
It is due to the fact that in their hearts, they are American in every way, says a sociology professor at University of Chicago, Roberto Gonzales. The colleges in the US do not teach talented youngsters to be undocumented immigrants, adds Professor Gonzales.
And the provision of in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants has helped several undocumented immigrants who crossed the US borders as children get established in the US now,
High number of undocumented immigrants with US degrees--As per figures revealed during 2010, the number of undocumented immigrant adults living in the US having either a graduate or a master’s US degree is said to be around 96,000.
And this is something incredible.
Apart from these figures for US graduates or postgraduates, the number of undocumented immigrants studying in the US colleges or US schools is not known.
And the best part is that many industry leaders as well as organizations are coming forward to help such immigrants with unlawful status to begin their careers.
Help in the form of legal advice, financial aid etc. is offered for enabling them to get a head start in the careers.
