UK science and arts bodies to select talented immigrants

United Kingdom, 21st July: The Royal Society of UK and three other UK bodies are offering a rare opportunity to immigrants possessing talent to live and work in the UK.

This has been revealed by the UK Home Office.
As per the announcement, the UK Royal Society will select up to 300 immigrants wanting to work in the UK.
This will be done under the exceptional talent route for 1,000 people possessing exceptional skills.
UK Route for talented immigrants-- Damian Green, the UK immigration minister, said four engineering, arts and science bodies will nominate 1,000 talented individuals to live and work here.
Apart from the UK Royal Society, the British Academy for humanities and social sciences and the Royal Academy of Engineering will have 200 seats each.
Another best thing about this program is that the four named bodies will have the ability to select those having talent not yet recognized in their respective chosen fields as leaders as well as those already established.
Exceptional talent route welcomed--This immigration stream was formulated following demand by arts and science organizations that the research base and artistic reputation of the UK was in threat following the announced cap on skilled and high-skilled immigrants earlier this year.
A UK research body, Cancer Research UK, had cautioned that if the UK wants to establish itself as a leader in medical research, then it must admit career researchers having potential to establish themselves in their chosen field since high-skilled scientists will be insufficient.
The move is likely to set-off all such fears with regard to the scientific and artistic reputation of the UK.
Immigration minister Green said that the latest step comes closely on the heels of the efforts by the UK government to slash net UK immigration to tens of thousands, while making the immigration system collaborative with the needs of the UK economy.
The special UK visa program has won accolades from chief executive of Arts Council England, Alan Davey. He stated that exchange of artists at an international level enriches their talent while expressing hope that the audiences too, will welcome such a program.
