UK migrants to clear English tests

United Kingdom, 13th April: As per a latest proposal by UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, all public sector migrant workers in the UK will now need to clear English test.

Unless, all UK migrants including community support officers, call centre employees, social workers, nurses, and others coming in contact with the public of the UK will have a requirement to clear a test or they will not be eligible for jobs in the UK.

Currently, only teachers, police officers and doctors from non-EU nations are required to undergo such compulsory English test.

So, from now on, a strong grasp of English will be a desired factor for all public sector workers to land a job in the UK. This step is being introduced to dispel all concerns of the UK voters regarding lack of knowledge of Basic English in the UK migrants.

Also, with elections around the corner, the Labor party is taking no chances to win the support of the voters and is determined to show its strong stand on key issues pertaining to the UK immigration. Last year, an incidence involving a German doctor lacking Basic English speaking skills had killed a patient by giving an overdose of morphine during his shift for the National Health Service (NHS).

At the manifesto launch, Mr. Brown will reiterate his party’s pledge to get strict on UK immigration, the main theme of the manifesto of the Labor for this year.

Since, several UK public sector works lack proficiency in English, there is an immediate need to bring desired changes, stated a senior Labor official.

Mr. Brown is likely to express his understanding of immediate concerns of the UK people regarding UK immigration. This include the affects of UK immigration on job prospects in the UK, pressure of the UK immigrants on the public services and any likely effect of UK immigration on the wages of the UK citizens.

Hence, current English requirements will be extended to bring all employees having contact with the general public to posses appropriate level of competence in English.
