This has been done by the UK immigration department to bring desired improvements in the points-based system and to eliminate the chances of immigration scams in the UK immigration system.

Hence, the launch of this new program for education providers desirous of sponsorship to candidates under the Tier 4 UK student visa system will ensure that

only genuine students are issued UK student visas. The Tier 4 UK student visa has replaced the earlier UK student visa system.

There will be no room for any bogus UK universities or colleges who fraudulently pose themselves as sponsors for those foreign immigrants whose sole aim is

to obtain a UK student visa and to live and work in the UK, thereafter.

The program by the UKBA (UK Border Agency) is to weed out red tape for sponsors and enable the agency to act tough on those who abuse the Tier 4 UK student visa system since the new program is for controlling immigration in the UK.

The website of the agency makes it clear that it will not hesitate to revoke the licenses of those sponsors who fail to meet the eligibility criteria.

The register of the highly trusted sponsors in the UK will be made live on 6th April, 2010. Ratings are given to the sponsors in the UK seeing their past track and the process followed in recruiting those international students who are genuine and who follow all the UK immigration rules while living in the UK. The register keeps on expanding according to the ratings given to the sponsors.

The benefit of a highly trusted sponsor in the UK as compared with other Tier 4 (General) sponsors will be that overseas students will have wider options of courses to choose from.
