UK immigration levels reach six year peak

United Kingdom, 30th May: Immigration levels in the UK reached all new highs for six years thus thwarting big claims of the Coalition government for reducing immigration numbers.

Net UK immigration levels have been going upward for the fifth quarter consecutively.
They have already reached highest levels witnessed in the year 2005.
Record increase in UK immigration—According to figures from ONS)Office for National Statistics), till September 2010, the figures of net migration in the UK was 242,000 and this has been the third highest figure.
Among the two primary reasons for sharp increase in the UK immigration numbers could be a downfall in emigration accompanied by a significant increase in the number of immigrants hailing from Eastern Europe coming to work in the UK.
UK work permission to East Europeans-a major factor behind soaring UK immigration levels—As per the official figures, there has been an increase of more than 50 percent in the number of immigrants from Eastern Europe coming to live and work in the UK.
The total figures for the Eastern Europeans in the UK stand at a whopping 72,000. And to the make the matters even worse, the number of immigrants from Eastern Europe returning back from the UK has gone down to 29,000, around 50 percent fall as compared to the previous year’s figures.
Although, the number of UK student visas to migrants from non-European nations was slashed by around two percent, however, it has been compensated well with an increase in the number of UK work visas issued to them.
Stern steps needed by UK government for reducing immigration in the UK— As per UK immigration minister Damian Green, the rates of migration in the UK have been, unmistakably, out of control and the blame must be put on the previous UK government, Labor government, for doing this damage to the nation.
Hence, the nation is in dire need of immediate and strict measures by the UK government considering the fact that high immigration levels are having a poor effect on the UK-born workers, asserted Sir Andrew Green from UK think-tank MigrationWatch.
No wonder, the current UK government has already introduced several reforms in the UK immigration for not only bringing the levels of UK immigration down but also control them in the coming times, asserted Green while referring to the efforts of the government with regard to swelling UK immigration numbers.
