UK immigration crackdown on five men overstaying UK visas

United Kingdom, 5th August: In the latest crackdown by UK immigration, five men were arrested at a UK music festival after being found guilty of overstaying their UK visas.

The immigration crackdown by UKBA (UK Border Agency) took place at Sonisphere Festival, Knebworth (Hertfordshire).

Held last week, the music festival was targeted by UKBA and the efforts brought the results, feels the border agency. As of now, the immediate concern for the officials of UK Home Office is to send the illegal immigrants out of the UK at the earliest.

The raids by the UK immigration officials resulted in the arrests of a Nigerian national and a South African national along with three men hailing from Mongolia.

The officials of UK immigration department were also successful in getting useful intelligence information and have also been able to spread awareness among the UK population. After the arrests made by UK immigration officials, one of the officials present at the site of the arrests, Emma Engutsamy, said that the visit to Sonisphere has been worthy.

The UK immigration crackdown is a part of the campaign targeted to get hold of immigrants in the UK living illegally including those involved in sham marriages, immigration crimes, fake colleges and illegal workers.

These include illegal immigrants who are either do not have valid UK work permits to work in the UK or immigrants studying in the UK illegally or without required documents. Also, the crackdown is to find those who are involved in sham marriages in the UK.

The arrested illegal immigrants on weekend by Herts police include a 26-year-old citizen of South Africa and a 32-year-old Nigerian national both of whom were found to be staying in the UK despite the expiry of their UK visas.

The arrests of three Mongolian nationals aged 20, 22 and 24 years respectively were made on Thursday by the UK immigration officials. The 22-year-old was a worker at Gourmet Burger and Fries although his UK visa had expired. He is facing deportation while the business he was working for will be fined up to £10,000.

Engutsamy stated that the UK immigration department is determined to check immigration abuse in the UK.
