Tourists finding it hard to get Canada visas-Surveys

Canada, 14th October: Due to tougher Canada tourist visa rules, the nation is losing out potential international tourists to other nations, head of Tourism Industry Association of Canada has stated.

Tedious Canada tourist visa process--Several recent surveys indicate international tourists’ growing fascination for Canada, but the complications involved in getting a Canada tourist visa is playing a spoilsport.

Moreover, airline fair is also quite high as compared to other nations, David Goldstein, head of TIAC (Tourism Industry Association of Canada) adds. So, to attract and invite higher number of foreign tourists to Canada, the nation needs to strike a perfect balance between efficient travel and safety.

Canada airline costs highest in the world--International tourists visiting Canada have to shell out higher Canada airline tickets due to high Canada airport taxes and landing fees. Canada has highest airline costs and this is the reason why majority of international airlines shy away from flying to Canada, Goldstein informed.

As per the data revealed by UN World Tourism Organization, in 2002, Canada enjoyed being the seventh top destination for international travel but its popularity is fading away. Its global popularity declined to 15th position in the year 2010.

This is resulting in a big loss for the tourism industry of Canada. Canada tourism industry is one of the biggest revenue earners.

According to figures, its worth around $74 billion and aids nearly 617,300 jobs in the economy. No wonder, the industry is suffering losses for the past few years.

Steps for improving Canada’s tourism—Among steps suggested by TIAC for making Canada accessible and popular among international tourists includes removal of bureaucratic restrictions by Canada immigration officials.

Canada immigration department must work towards easing process for crossing the border for Americans.

India, China, Brazil, Mexico and Russia are among the top sources of foreign tourists to Canada.

And the government of Canada must work towards tapping a vast potential of international tourists from these nations.

Efforts should be made to cut down airport taxes and related costs to make Canada visit pocket friendly and enjoyable for international travelers, Goldstein asserts. Only such steps can help in attracting international tourists to Canada who are opting to visit Europe and other nations for sightseeing and shopping around.
