Australia, January 25: Australia is likely to introduce tougher immigration rules to end backdoor entry of Indians into the country.
The new rules will allow only genuine students from India seeking Australian visa for pursuing higher education, affirmed Peter Varghese, the Australian high commissioner. This decision was taken after discussions with the department of immigration and citizenship Australia.
Close on the heels of making tougher immigration process for Australia, the Australian government is also working out a plan to help put a curb on the increasing menace of private educational institutions in the country which are far below the quality levels meant for such institutes.
Hence, these measures being sought by the Australian government are going to result in a considerable decline in the number student visa applications by Indian students getting rejected. The move hopes to ensure that the immigrants from India in Australia have sufficient funds to support themselves in Australia.
The decision of accepting or rejecting any application for Australian student visa by Indian students will be taken after taking into consideration the intent of the person seeking visa or the documentation of the concerned applicant. If the Australian immigrant officials find the documents submitted by the applicant to be fraudulent or fake, they will reject his student visa application. Similarly, if the officials find that the intention of the applicant is not study but seeking employment in Australia, they will decline visa to such applicant.
Varghese had a positive assurance for the genuine people looking for migration abroad saying Australia is a nation of high migration and the nation always welcomes skilled migrants from different countries, especially possessing skills that are in high demand in Australia.
It may be mentioned that with an increasing number of attacks on Indians in Australia in the recent months, the motive of which is thought to be racial, the number of Australian visa seekers has already witnessed a noteworthy decline. And the students from India are looking for other options including Canada, New Zealand or UK rather than putting their lives at a risk in Australia.
