Tarnished image of Canada amongst the immigrants—A sneak peek
by Satarupa - April 17, 2012
The image Canada holds as now among prospective and existing immigrants has been seen to be worse than what it held a decade back. Here is a look into the how and why of this issue!

Recent years have seen a steep increase in the number of immigrants winding up their work in Canada and moving to their native countries. Many of them are surrounded by some kind of perpetual dilemma of whether to leave or to stay in this country.
New immigrants are also finding it hard to convince themselves to move to this place as the racists incidents are increasing every day. Large sections of the immigrants now fear their lives. They had to struggle a lot to make their way into Canada because they wanted to give themselves a better life and ample of opportunities.
However, seeing the recent incidents, the reality seems to be on the contrary side. It gets very hard for them to choose between two of the hardest options: whether to stay in Canada and be a victim or go back to their own country and fulfill their family obligations. Some of them also consider the option that, they can get much better job opportunities outside this country.
Harsh realities
People who have been staying in this country for a long time now have a firm belief that the lack of a proper system is responsible for all the mess. There seem to be no strict laws and against racism. However, some people still believe that Canada is one of the best countries to live and they seem to be optimistic on returning one day in the future. There have been quite a few incidents in the recent past, which affected the life of immigrants.
They strongly believe that the law and the system discriminate between the local people and the outsiders. A resident of Pakistan, who also has the citizenship of this country, is planning to leave Canada very soon. He believes that it is the best thing that he can do in the current circumstances. This is not only the first case of a person leaving the country due to primal fear. Some immigrants also believe that one has to have a good experience of this country in order to make a good living otherwise the things do not turn up on their side.
Summing up
Students and job seekers face this problem regularly, as they have to face many problems to earn a good living in this country. Canada also discriminates on wages. The locals get a much better compensation as compared to the immigrants. All these things have tarnished the image of Canada on a global scale and people no longer find this place to be the land of good prospects.
