Streamline US visa process to create more jobs

Enabling skilled immigrants to work in the nation will have a significant positive effect on the US economy since it will bring the much needed stimulus to the entrepreneurship.

US to relax norms for high skilled immigrants, investors and entrepreneurs—The US has announced to ease criteria for high-skilled workers, investors and entrepreneurs wanting to come to the US.

This was revealed recently by Director of US CIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services), Alejandro Mayorkas and Secretary of US DHS (Department of Homeland Security) Janet Napolitano.

Effect on immigrant entrepreneurs coming to the US--These changes will enable immigrant entrepreneurs to get US H-1B visas even without the requirement of getting sponsored by US employers. Prior to this new ruling, all high-skilled foreign nationals seeking US H-1B visas must be sponsored by any US employer.

Impact of changes in US immigration policies on EB-5 and EB-2 visas—Apart from the immigrant entrepreneurs wanting to come to the US, others likely to be effected by the changed US visa rules include aspirants of EB-2 and EB-5 US visas.

Prior to these changes, all EB-2 visa applicants were required to get a Labor Certificate before getting a job in the US.

However, after the announcement of the new immigration rules, all EB-2 visa petitioners will find it easy to seek exception from the compulsory rule of Labor Certificate by applying for National Interest Waiver.

As for the EB-5 investor visa, the processing time which normally ranges anything between six to twelve months will now get processed within a span of few weeks.

And this could bring the much needed relief to the US economic development.

Every year, the US issues 10,000 EB-5 visas to foreigners willing to invest a minimum of $1 million in any new American business or $50,000 in any US business in some economically poor region.

Needs for more changes in US visa policies—Apart from the above changes, the US must focus on increasing the annual US visa caps to allow more foreign talent to come to the nation.

Moreover, US Congress must work towards bringing down the fees and cutting US immigration rules that prevent high skilled and rich immigrants to immigrate and contribute towards the betterment of the nation.
