Australia, 28th September: South Australia has released the list of shortage skills for those wishing to apply for Australian work visas for working here.

This is a step by South Australia to encourage skilled immigration into the state.
The interim list published by South Australia includes the occupations that happen to be in great demand.
The official website of the South Australia stated that Immigration South Australia feels immense pleasure in announcing the new list and feels elated that it will begin accepting applications of new sponsorships from those who intend to live and work in SA (South Australia).
The system of applying online will become fully functional in a span of short time and the SA immigration feels happy to provide sponsorships for several occupations in great demand till the final State Migration Plans (SMP) get implemented.
If any applicant has submitted an application for immigration to South Australia, then he does not require making an additional submission of application. The processing of all applications will be done in accordance with the occupations on the interim list.
Seeing the list of skills shortage released by South Australia, several other Australian states are expected to follow by publishing the skilled shortage lists in the times to come.
The implementation of the state migration plans was to be done in the month of August 2010; however, it had to delayed due to the elections in the nation. And as of now, the replacement of Chris Evans as the Australian immigration minister for Chris Bowen has made it look obvious that the SMPs are not going to be implemented till the beginning of the year 2011.
Nonetheless, several states of Australia are already feeling the pinch of skills shortages and are not going to wait any longer for the release of the skills shortage list by Australian government. How long will the other states of Australia follow South Australia in publishing the interim skills list for filling gaps between huge demand and scarce supply of skilled labor still remains to be seen in the times to come.
The Skilled Occupation list was released by Australian government in the month of June this year.
