Skilled Indian and non-EU workers to be kicked out of UK
by Kenny - February 9, 2011
New proposals were made by the British government to protect British workers, which would make skilled Indian workers as well as Non-European Union citizens to face more problems in getting a work visa in the UK.

The government’s reason on posting a cap on migrant work visa in UK
The immigration advisers recommended the government to decrease the number of jobs for skilled workers outside the European Union that comprises jobs like hairdressers, estate agents, and shopkeepers, while health care managers, PR officers and psychologists would be allowed in. The action was taken because of the immigration cap which will now be taking effect making the government choose only jobs which are in demand to get in. And in order to minimize abuse in the immigration system especially in the student visa that will most probably result to human trafficking, the action is necessary, as stated by the Prime minister. In this matter, the student visa system is more likely to be introduced with a bond before the student enters the UK, and will be returned to the non-European Union student leaves the country after finishing the study.
The Migration Advisory Committee has proposed in cutting down jobs and protects British jobs. As the unemployment number rises in UK, jobs in the country should be set at high university levels to ensure that if migrant workers coming to the UK are genuinely high skilled.
Reaction from the companies and employers in UK
This action by the British government will most probably be faced with a lot of opposition especially from British companies which are struggling to hire skilled workers that can really perform the job assigned to them. Campaign groups also announced that they will oppose such actions by the government.
The head of the forum stated that the cap on migrant visas will greatly affect professionals coming from India since most of the migrants that are not citizens of the European Union are from India. And this action by the government would greatly affect the British economy.
Government justifies their action
The British government on the other hand defended their action by saying that this action should be made in order for people to have a confidence in the system. Also, in order to ensure cohesion and would protect Britain’s public services, a cap on immigration and reduce the number of non-European Union immigrants should be introduced. And an annual limit on the number of non-European Union Immigrants would also be implemented.
The immigration minister Damian Green stated that the action should be done in order to the immigration system would allow firms to bring people with necessary skills without immigration becoming the first resort to fill a wide range of jobs.
