Shortage Occupations

  Below mentioned occupations are given in the Skill Type O, Skill Level A or Skill Level B of Canada’s NOC(National Occupation Classification List).

Your experience needs to be within the last 10 years and should correspond to the definition of the Canadian occupation of your listed occupation of migration.

So, the significance of appropriately documented work experience references to assure that you are granted experience points (Factor 3 points) in the listed occupation.

There is another separate list of some RESTRICTED OCCUPATIONS regarding which points for work experience can not be granted.

You might be eligible for immigration to Canada under the category of Federal Skilled Worker Visa provided you have a minimum of one year’s experience in one or more of the following occupations which are regarded to be in-demand occupations:

  • University Professors
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • College and Other Vocational Instructors
  • Cooks
  • Chefs
  • Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades
  • Contractors and Supervisors, Pipefitting Trades
  • Contractors and Supervisors, Heavy Construction Equipment Crews
  • Electricians (Except Industrial and Power System)
  • Plumbers
