The increasing number of sham marriages have been posing a threat to country's immigration rules and regulations.

Fake marriages have always been posing a serious threat to the immigration laws of the country.
Currently it has been studied that since the announcement of tightening immigration rules for the non- EU countries have been made, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of applications among from the migrants of non EU countries.
This rise in sham marriages is the result of fear that propped amongst the immigrants of the non- EU countries.
According to the facts stated by the BRENT the shoot is visible in number of marriage applications as the tough immigration rule leaves little space for the illegal immigrants. The large number of applicants is those who have are living in the country without visas or whose visas have been expired. It is also noticed that many of such applicants wants to marry the EU citizens to get visa to stay in UK.
The issue was more strengthened after the arrest of two immigrants who have been arrested by the border authorities when they came to know about two sham marriages at Brent Registry office. Here an illegally staying 27 year old lady who belongs to India and a 38y ear old Pakistani man, both of them were looking forward to marry some Eastern European people were caught and now are deported.
Mark Rimmer, the Council Service Director for Registration and Nationality Service at Brent, has showed his high concern for the situation and has also made the authorities aware that the registry offices make have to face an increase in applications due to changes in law.
As before to get married who is under the immigration check has to attain a certificate of approval from the Home Office authorities stating that they have permission to marry.
But now after the decision UK courts gave the ruling that it has breached the European Convention of Human Rights the government has been forced to end this particular scheme.
As for the present situation is concerned the registrars do not lie with the powers of refusing to marry the couples of their choice all they could do is convey about suspicious couple to the Home Office.
The head of UK Border Agency’s local immigration team for Brent stated that, "We are working quiet closely and seriously with the help of registrars in Brent and across the country to look for sham marriages and where doubtful investigation is will be carried out strictly.”
