Reporting an Immigration Fraud


Immigration Frauds can be reported to various agencies

The nation experiences an increase in the number of fraud cases pertaining to Immigration. There is an urgent requirement of reporting these cases to the concerned department.

There are instances when people do not report such frauds due to lack of a proper guideline. Here there is guidance for reporting an Immigration fraud coming your way:

Who are the frauds?

• Immigrants who are staying in Canada illegally.
• Those who are taking away jobs which could have otherwise been taken by the Canadians.
• Immigrants who are enjoying the benefits of Social assistance or Employment Insurance.
• And those who are violating the Immigration laws.

First things first

In case you fear reporting a fraud because your name might be surfaced, then you can be rest assured that you have the facility of lodging a fraud without your name being revealed.

There are various agencies where you can report the Fraud and they are:

Embassy of Canada or Consulate

You may call up at the office of an Embassy or Consulate and report the fraud. You may also send a fax enclosing the details of what you have reported or suspected.

Calling up the Embassy or Consulate helps the officials tackling the matter sooner and faster as any such miscreant would be barred from entering the nation and would be caught right in the country of origin.

Reporting to an MP

You can also take help of an MP to report a fraud. You can approach an MP for getting help in reporting the issue to the concerned Department. This way your complaint will catch more attention from the CBSA than otherwise.

Reporting to Canada Border Services Agency

You can call up the office of CBSA and supply the information pertaining to the fraudsters. You need not inform your name to the officials while reporting the matter. You can report the matter anytime you feel like because the phone lines are opened 24 hours a week.

Reporting to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

You can also report the matter to CRA if you don’t get adequate response from CBSA. The helpline numbers are:

While reporting a fraud make sure that all possible details are furnished from your end and all this can be done without revealing your personal information.
