Can I Reenter Canada with my British Passport after a 6month visit

Question in Detail: 
I am visiting Canada on a British Passport as a tourist. I have been been here for almost 6months and would like to leave to visit hawaii and then return to Canada for a few months. Is this Allowed? Is there anything I need to do before leaving Canada in 2 weeks? Can I return on the Visa Waiver Program? as a tourist and if so for How Long..?
