India, December 29: Punjab government has failed to win faith of NRI’s for making investments in the state. This was stated by an MLA from Surrey’s Fleetwood constituency, Jagrup Singh Brar.
While NRIs are quite keen in making investments, Brar said that it is most probably a lack of faith and no safety of money which is holding back several NRIs from making investments in the state of Punjab.
The fact is that many families living in Canada are also thinking of returning to their native villages in Punjab, but Punjab seems to show no interest in all this.
Also, lack of adequate healthcare facilities is another vital reason which is making many Punjabis think twice before taking any decision to return to India.
Drawing a comparison between timely healthcare and emergency health services in Canada, Brar said it just takes only six minutes for an ambulance to reach the site in Canada, while, back home in Punjab, there is no such facility available yet.
The negative impact of NRI Sammelans organized in Punjab is yet another factor proving hindrance in the investments by NRIs. This is due to the fact that big promises are seldom given a practical shape for the NRIs. Also, there is a need for a properly designed handbook providing all the information about facilities for NRIs in Punjab.
Talking about the vast potential of skilled work force in Punjab, Brar asserted on the need to direct the energy of youth in proper direction. Talking about the education system in Punjab, Brar felt an immediate need for revamping the whole system and help restore the work culture among the youth of Punjab.
He advised the Punjab youth to make proper inquiries about the job scenario and available jobs in Canada before making any applications for visa. A proficiency in English language is, indeed, indispensable for all the people moving to Canada.
