Protecting Canada's Immigration System Act

Minister Jason Kenney announces "Protecting Canada's Immigration System Act" at Ottawa.

To protect the integrity of Canadian Immigration System and to curb the false claims to seek asylum refugee, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney introduced a bill “Protecting Canada's Immigration System Act” at Ottawa.
A bill that sill further improve the Balanced Refugee Reform Act was introduced with the clear motive to keep the Canadian Immigration System under strict check. The new act will offer
1. Better and faster reforms to the asylum system,
2. Swifter and smoother process for genuine asylum seekers, and
3. Stricter means dealings to with human smuggling.
4. Above all the new act makes submission of biometric data a compulsion for all those who apply under temporary resident visa.
A new amendment that Protecting Canada's Immigration System Act carries above the former act is the Minors (age below 16) are subject to exemption from the detention if arrived as mass humans smuggled. Though all over age limit are definitely subject to detention.

Minister Jayson Kenney said “Canadians take great pride in the generosity and compassion of our immigration and refugee programs. But they have no tolerance for those who abuse our generosity and seek to take unfair advantage of our country”

Sweet Timing This act will enable process of refugee claims within 45 days as compared to 171 days under present the Balanced Refugee Reform Act and weed out the illegal refugee claimants especially arising from usually non-refugee-producing nations (majority from European Union)

The Whooping StatisticsThe toll of such claims from EU rose 14 per cent and stood at 23 per cent last year. More than 95 per cent of such claims were abandoned, rejected or withdrawn. Such unfounded claims pose a threat of $170 million to Canadian Economy in form of asylum seekers.

& We Nail them Down The best part of the legislation is it authorizes Canada to make biometric data (i.e., fingerprints, photograph) a mandatory part of Visa application. Thus no forgery of documents or identity theft will be curbed effectively. Also those who pose a threat to Canada or its immigration system can be kept at bay, effectively.

“… we must demonstrate that Canada has a fair, well-managed system that does not tolerate queue jumping” concluded the Minister.
