Proposals accepted for new settlement programs

Canada experiences almost 200,000 immigrants every year from all over the world. People come under various categories’ visa like students’ visa, immigrant investor or any other category. However, the most popular is the immigrants coming under “skilled immigrant category.”

Settling the immigrants after their arrival is a task which calls for a lot of planning and implementation. The new immigrants always face a problem due to lack of language proficiency, cultural difference between their home countries and Canada. Hence the “settlement programs” ensure their easy and hassle free settlement so that they can stay and perform better in their work places. These programs help them to get adjusted and contribute much more to the nation’s growth. There are projects run to ensure smooth settlement of these immigrants.

Recently Citizenship and Immigration Canada has asked people to submit “proposals for settlement programs.” Proposals are invited from various sections including the non- profit organization and other Institutions to run settlement programs.

The on-going programs will come to an end by this year and a fresh project has to start in 2013. These projects may be operated at local, regional, national and even at international level.
Funds are allotted for settlement and resettlement programs and to provide all possible support to the new immigrants for settling down in Canada. These funds are used to provide language training, referrals and to help them locate a job for themselves.

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says, “The call for Proposals is an important way to solicit service delivery opportunities that will benefit newcomers.” He said that they will be helped with language training, career counseling and any other support.

Provinces like Manitoba, British Columbia and Quebec cannot submit proposals; except for these provinces others all can submit proposals. Organizations in these provinces are allowed to make submission of projects which have national and international approach.

People prefer coming to this nation due to the multiculturalism, open mindedness and easy acceptance of the localities over here. The nation makes every possible effort to make the new population integrate with the native culture, which is a rare phenomenon to be seen. The settlement programs are a live example of supportive gesture of the Government, Administration and the local people. OF course the benefit is enjoyed both by the immigrants and the nation as a settled immigrant will contribute to the best of his ability.
