Procedures for Immigrating to Canada

Canada is a wonderful place, filled with ample opportunities and a great community. As a result of its popularity, many people wish to immigrate there to start new lives and careers in a new country.

Moving away to another country such as Canada will be an exciting time and there will be a lot which will need to be done before you can leave. However, there are specific requirements and procedures which have to be followed before being able to move to Canada and apply for citizenship.

There are several ways to apply to immigrate to Canada, so it is worth investing time in looking over the options and what is most likely to suit your personal circumstances. For those looking to live and work in Canada there is a route as a skilled worker or professional. Being selected for permanent residence this way is based upon criteria such as work experience, education, grasp of the English language, or French and any other criteria which will help towards being able to maintain work and financial independence whilst working in Canada. In addition to this, applicants and their dependants must pass a medical examination before they will be considered.

In order for any application as a skilled worker to be eligible, the results of the official language proficiency test must be included and there must also be a valid offer of employment. If there is no solid offer of employment available then the applicant must have one full year of paid work experience in one of the listed occupations on the immigration website. If these requirements have been met then the application will go on to be processed using the skilled worker points grid which uses 6 selection criteria: education; proficiency in English/French; work experience; age; employment offers; and adaptability.

Not only must these requirements be met, but there must also be evidence that you have funds available to you in order to support yourself once you arrive in Canada. The time that it takes to process the application varies. However to prevent any unnecessary delay, just make sure all information is correct and up to date, required documents are attached and all instructions have been followed.

Other options to consider as a means by which to move to Canada include the Canadian Experience Class which is for those who are already temporary foreign workers or students who have graduated in Canada. In addition to this, people who are looking to start up a business in Canada have further options open to them in immigrating. In addition, if you are related to someone who is already a resident in Canada, then it may be possible to look at other routes for immigrating if they are willing to sponsor you.

After going through all of the checks and applications, if you are accepted then a whole new experience will await you. Although a stressful time, it will also be one filled with excitement at the new prospects and plans. After going through the immigration process, the next step is getting yourself over there! However, this is relatively simple: it is possible to get cheap flights to Vancouver from a variety of carriers.
