United Kingdom, 24th August: KGB Cleaners, an outsourcing cleaning firm in the UK House of Commons has been found guilty of hiring immigrants without UK work visas.

It was found that 10 immigrant workers working as cleaners in the House of Commons were working in the UK illegally since their UK work visas had expired.
This is especially shocking since the workers employed as cleaners have easy access to the top MPs private offices including the office of the UK Prime Minister.
It is considered to be big security breach for the tightly guarded Palace of Westminster as all potential workers before issuance of passes are required to undergo strict background checking by the security and police officials.
KGB Cleaners is an outsourcing firm engaged in hiring workers for polishing floors, sweeping corridors and cleaning lavatories in the Palace of Westminster.
The group of workers in the House of Commons was rounded up by the police officials following inquiries by the UKBA(UK Border Agency).
It has been confirmed by a spokeswoman for the House of Commons, UK that several workers found to be working illegally in the UK have been detained for further details regarding immigration related offences.
The incidence came was discovered due to the vigilance of an official of the UK police. The contractor is liable for a fine extending up to £10,000 for employment of illegal immigrants as workers.
All of them had got a clearance from the security officials before they started working as cleaners at the Palace of Westminster, the spokeswoman clarified.
But, following the expiry of their UK work visas some time ago, the workers did not bother to communicate this to their employers in the UK or the officials of the Westminster Palace.
While, some were asylum seekers who were asked to move out of Britain, others had overstayed their UK visas after the expiry of UK work permits, the official revealed.
Its not the first time that the KGB Cleaners has been raked in controversy. The firm with a total workforce of 120 employees was threatened with a strike by its employees last year after the firm denied them a hike of 45p.
