Canada, December 24: Canadian immigration department has announced the facility of making online visa applications by temporary residents in Canada. Also, temporary residents in Canada will just need to go online for extension of their Canadian visa.
This was announced by Jason Kenney, the minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism, here on Monday. The provision of introducing online services to temporary residents is being seen as a big move for making the whole process much easier, simpler and faster.
Online service will help to reduce the application time for temporary residents of Canada because when any errors are picked in any visa application, these can be corrected immediately. Earlier, any errors picked in the Canadian visa applications took more time for correction as applications had to sent back by mail.
Moreover, applications online can be submitted only once they are complete, thereby making the application process faster.
In June 2008, Canadian student visa applicants got access to make online visa application. Since the introduction of this facility for student visa, nearly 33,000 student visa applications for Canada has been submitted, thus making quite popular among the applicants.
Seeing such a good response to this online facility, Canadian immigration is looking forward to make all visa applications online in the near future. This was expressed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
At present, the facility of making online visa applications is available for temporary residents of Canada and those making applications for work permits of co-op programme.
At nearly 200 educational institutions taking part in the online visa process, international students have been able to make online application for (off-campus) work permit, confirm their eligibility and even renew their study permit online.
Temporary residents in Canada can also apply or extend the status of the dependent family members who, at present, are living in Canada by making use of CIC’s online service.
