United States, 7th July: The President of the United States Barack Obama spoke about numerous benefits of US immigration for the economy of the country.

Speaking at American University, Washington DC last week, Obama said there are several advantages of allowing immigrants from the nations like China, Ireland, Poland and Italy to move to the US.
Immigrants coming to the US from these nations have contributed significantly to the US economy in the last couple of years, added the American President. Hence, there is an immediate need for the US to reinstate its identity of being a nation of immigrants.
US must attract likeminded people from the world over who want to immigrate to the US in search of better opportunities. Herein lies the genius of the US, asserted Obama.
He also reiterated that in the past couple of years, many immigrants have been victims of racial discrimination in America, but, this has not hindered the flow of immigrants into the US. In fact, the rates of immigration in the US have increased over the last few years, Obama maintained.
Obama also expressed his plans of making major immigration reforms in the US which will help provide a legal way for a large number of immigrants living in America to become US citizens. This is required if American wants to remain competitive in the world.
Meanwhile, several industry experts urge that if the country wants to keep its talented people within the nation, it must make greater efforts or it will lose its talent to other nations.
Also, in order to allure increased number of economic immigrants into the US, the country wants to do much more.
The US President also spoke of the need of taking steps to put an end to the bureaucratic backlog which results in long waiting periods for the family members of the immigrants to reunite with them.
And there is a need to increase the limit of US work visas for potential immigrants from the world over who can take available jobs in the US. The country also needs to introduce rules that make it compulsory for the employers in the US to verify the status of their workers before employing them for work in the US.
