A new US immigration policy directive will offer a comfort to the undocumented immigrant parents since new rules restrict USICE officials to detain or arrest those undocumented immigrants who have children/family in the US.
As per the details, the US Border Agents have been issued a clear directive not to commit the mistake of taking into arrest any undocumented immigrant who is a parent of a child/children in the US.
At all costs, arrest as well as any deportation of undocumented immigrant parents needs to be avoided by the US Border Agents, the directive maintains.
Allow visit children, participation in family court proceedings--The nine page memo from the USICE(US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is aimed to direct US immigration agents not to arrest undocumented immigrant parents.
Rather, the US immigration agents need to use a prosecutorial discretion for avoiding any detention of immigrant parents(undocumented immigrant parents).
The latest US administration further mentions that if, at all, any undocumented immigrant parent is detained by the US immigration agents, then it must be ensured that such undocumented immigrant parents must be allowed to visit their children or take part in family court proceedings.
New policy welcomed—The latest US immigration policy directive issued last week by the USICE has been welcomed by the undocumented immigrant supporters. Supporters were all praises for such a welcoming step by the Obama administration for undocumented immigrants living in the US.
Supporters of undocumented immigrants further called for grant of amnesty to undocumented immigrant parents as well.
Meanwhile, Republicans seem to be critical of this latest US immigration policy by the Obama administration.
They allege doing so has led to another abuse of the authority available to US President Barack Obama by asking USICE not to remove undocumented immigrants, maintained Robert W Goodlatte, Chairman of the Republican House Judiciary Committee.
