Obama encourages undocumented immigration of minors—Perry
by Harleen Kaur - May 8, 2012
United States, 8th May: Obama administration has been accused of increasing undocumented immigration of minors in the US.

Control undocumented immigration of minors-- Speaking about the issue, Texas Governor Rick Perry said in the recent past, US President Barack Obama has been encouraging minor immigrants to come to the US unlawfully through the US-Mexico border. This amounts to humanitarian crisis, remarked Perry, while pointing out to the surging level of undocumented immigration of minors in the US.
As per the recent reports, as many as 5,200 undocumented immigrant minors sneaked into the US unaccompanied during the first half of the FY (Fiscal Year) 2012.
This is an increase of a whopping 90 percent as compared to the figures for the same period one year ago. And the number of unaccompanied minors coming to the US unlawfully is stated to be 1,300 in the month of March.
The US administration has been reluctant to take any action and inaction amounts to increased immigration of minors, Perry maintained. So, this is something requiring urgent attention, writes Perry in a letter addressed to US President Obama.
Stop new arrivals, ensure return of undocumented immigrant kids--The onus is now on the US administration to work towards immediate return of all minor undocumented immigrants to their native nations, he quipped. Only such a step can dissuade others keen to come to the US unlawfully, he said.
Increasing inflow of undocumented immigrant kids into the US is burdening the nation.
Offering protection to minors involved in unlawful crossing of US borders makes them susceptible to several dangers including, kidnapping, rape, extortions or killings by violent criminals, informed Perry.
Each day of delay can increase risk for young immigrants’ lives and lure hundreds to cross the US borders unlawfully, Perry writes.
In addition, the dangers of chickenpox and measles outbreak are a cause of immediate concern for the Americans. It may be worth mentioned that the US Department of Home Security (DHS) does pick up young undocumented immigrants and sends them to the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
Although, the exact figures of deportations of undocumented immigrant kids are not available. But unofficial figures state the figures to be less than 10 percent, claims Perry.
