No priority list for Canada’s favored immigration program
by Harleen Kaur - January 21, 2013
Canada, 21st January: Canada’s favored immigration program named Federal Skilled Worker Program will be re-launched in May but without any priority occupations list.

Yes, its true.
No priority occupations list for Federal Skilled Worker Program—This is the latest information for all those wanting to apply for Federal Skilled Worker Program. This Canada immigration program is going to be re-launched by CIC(Citizenship and Immigration Canada) in May this year.
As per the official information, this popular immigration route to Canada will be restarted by the nation on 24th May, 2013. The immigration program was halted and will be resumed after a gap of almost 10 months.
Changes to Federal Skilled Worker Program—So, the newly revamped Canada’s FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program) will be open for aspirants wanting to come and work in Canada as skilled workers from May this year. But the point worth notable here is that it will include several key changes as against the earlier program.
The FSWP will no longer have a priority occupations list for applicants.
So, the applicants for Federal Skilled Worker Program will need to obtain an ECA(Educational Credential Assessment) from any of the organizations designated for credential assessment.
This will be essential for knowing the equivalent value of educational credentials in Canada since their job prospects in Canada are directly dependent on the value of their educational qualifications.
Changes aimed to improve job prospects for immigrants in Canada--Canada government’s recent modification in FSWP is aimed at to significantly reduce, if not eliminate, the high rate of unemployment as well as underemployment among newcomers coming to Canada.
One of the major reasons for immigrants’ high rate of joblessness and underemployment after immigration to Canada is due to the fact that their educational qualifications and/or skill-sets are not in tune with the needs of Canada employment market.
So, they are compelled to take up either jobs below their educational qualifications or to remain without jobs in Canada. And that’s exactly what has been bothering Canada government.
Hence, the latest changes want to make sure that Canadian immigrants are allowed to come here if they possess the right skills and qualifications that are in demand in Canada’s labor market.
