New UK Immigration rules to keep check on sham marriages

The new set of proposals have made to ensure better and safe immigrant system to keep track and check on sham marriages in the country.

To strengthen the new immigration rules and system of the country, the immigration Minister Damien Green have now declared a new proposal to keep a check and control on the sham and forced marriages among the immigrants. This proposal has been brought up in the new consultation to improve the family migration system of the country. As previously the family rules were used to overtake the stricter immigration to enter and settle in the country.

Recently a many amendments were made in the work and study visa system for the immigrants, now the new changes have also been suggested in family visas. These changes are suggested to fill the previous loopholes and assure that the immigrants coming through it is genuine and also to make sure that the immigrants should integrate themselves into the society.

Green comments on the change and says, “The consultation is for making the family migration more improved for the migrants as well the country.” He further adds on that “Through these changes only genuine immigrants will be allowed to enter along with the family. If some immigrant is not able to support their partner then government will not tolerate it anymore and will take strict action regarding it.” Now the loophole which was present there in last system has been dealt with and now a better system has emerged. The main purpose of the proposal is to control abuse faced and mixing of the different cultures and people peacefully.

Some important points of the proposals include:

A clear outline and detailing is provided about what is considered as genuine marriage and also for identifying the sham marriages.

Now they are also introducing a new minimum income requirement which has to be fulfilled by those sponsors who wanted to call their partners and dependents to the country. This is required to ensure that they can support their sponsored immigrants.

Now the period of applying for the settlement have also been extended from 2 years to 5 years for ensuring the marriage is real and not done with motive of getting permanent resident ship of the country only.

For properly settling in the country, sponsored immigrants under the age 65 years should be able to have proper knowledge of English language equivalent to B1 level.

Now the authorities have power to hold a marriage if suspected it a sham or forced marriage especially in areas which are prone to witness such marriages like in England and Wales.

Now they have right to review deeply the appeals for family visits.
