New rules for Australia skilled immigration announced

Australia, 27th May: Australia has announced new rules for Australian skilled immigration with effect from July 2012 onwards

The new rules require all aspiring skilled immigrants wanting to apply for Australian visa to seek an online permission before submitting their application.

This has been revealed by Australian immigration department –DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship).

Major reform in the Australian skilled immigration rules—The DIAC’s official website reveals changed rules for the Australian skilled immigration program which has been given a new name—Skilled Migrant Selection Model. The Australian skilled immigration program has not only been given a new name but is also undergoing a major reform by the Australian government.

The changes will be in selecting the applicants under the Australian skilled migration categories. All desirous applicants for Australian skilled immigration will have to get an invitation before proceeding with making a formal application for Australian skilled immigration, the website maintains.

What are the rules of new Australian skilled immigration system—No wonder, the most significant aim of these changes in the skilled migration system is to provide the nation the skills in high demand by attracting the brightest and the best talent from the world over.

Being an electronic system, the Australian Skilled Migrant Selection Model will have a two stage process. So, aspiring applicants for Australian skilled immigration will be required to furnish claims for Australia skilled migration through the use of an online EOI. Once this is done, the next stage will be waiting for the invitation for applying for an Australian visa.

Presently, applicants for territory/state sponsored migration or independent migration do not need to get an invitation before lodging their Australia visa application. On receiving the invitation, the duty of the Model will be to make sure that there is a proper match between the number of available places for the program as well as the number of applications.

Claimants will be provided a much quicker response from the Australian immigration department while Australia will get skilled migrants in high demand and at less cost.
