Canada, 22nd March: A new regulatory body is being formulated by the Canadian government for controlling immigration consultants in Canada.

Named the ICCRC (Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council) agency, the body will assist in weeding out unregistered immigration consultants from Canada.
In addition, it will also help in punishing the immigration consultants involved in abusing the Canada immigration system and exploiting the new immigrants, informed Jason Kenney, Canada Immigration and Citizenship Minister.
Kenney said that the ICCRC is committed to increase the protection of the people of Canada and the immigrants using the services of immigration consultants.
Aim of ICCRC-
Target of formulation of ICCRC is to curb increasing number of fake, unregistered and unlicensed immigration consultants in Canada whose sole aim is to make use of fake claims and documents for enabling foreigners into the nation. The ICCRC will also impose tougher penalties for shoddy fly-by-night immigration consultants, Kenney maintained.
Move is a part of the nationwide campaign—
It’s part of the nationwide campaign by the government of Canada to control growth of such immigration consultants in Canada. Before this new initiative by the federal government, the immigration consultants’ industry has been working without any formal recognition.
Every year, thousands of fake applications are made resulting in victimization of innocent immigrants or would-be immigrants to Canada, Kenney said.
He also clarified that the traditional steps will be kept in place to make sure the services are continued without any interruptions until the new process gets underway. The move is being seen for ensuring the integrity of the Canada immigration system, Kenney asserted. He felt assured that the strong regulatory body-ICCRC- will ensure in providing high quality consultation, advice and representation services to those who avail immigration consultation services.
Widespread abuse of Canada immigration laws by organized groups—
According to Julian Fantino, Minister of State Responsible for Seniors, the commitment of the council is to ensure enhanced protection of Canadians as well as immigrants needing the services of immigration consultants in Canada.
Presently, crime groups in Canada are a great threat to the nation and they are trying their best to escape the immigration laws of Canada, Fantino added.
Immigration consultants happy with formulation of new regulatory body—
Majority of immigration consultants have expressed their happiness with the changes in the system. There were several complaints regarding the earlier board for last couple of years, Roy Kellogg, an immigration consultant maintained.
