New Options coming up for the ones with Troubled Mortgages


There are number of new options available for the borrowers who are facing troubled mortgages.

There is good news for the local mortgage borrowers, who think that they might lose their homes. Now they have many new options coming their way to save their properties.

The Bank of America is going to offer a new permanent customer service center to its clients, through which the borrowers can get the needful assistance, they can also meet the officials personally can get the required assistance and clear their doubts.

The banks are now coming in and putting their efforts, since the Keep Your Home California is launched lately. Basically working under California Housing Finance Agency, to help people with low and moderate income group borrowers, they have various programs and plans. They aim to free them from difficulties they came across during the foreclosure.

As soon after the launch of Keep Your Home California around 2, 000 homeowners are satisfied with the help provided to them, stated by Evan Gerberding, the program’s assistant director. She also adds on further that, “On an average we having 500 calls per day, and we are so happy with this kind of response.”

The funds available for such plans are around $ 2 billion from the federal money keeping aside the bank bailouts. The participating banks are also giving through matching their funds.

Basically to help the mortgage payments, reducing the principal loan or relocating the expenses, money for the given purpose is funded through four different programs. These being a part of voluntary drive the banks and other servicers as per their convenience choose all the programs or pick out any one or any number as they like it.

The state still not very sure about the contribution offered by the banks as according to the recent statistics on 15 in number have committed to work for the Keep Your California till now.

Gerberding further says that they have been keeping in touch with servicers almost every day to ensure their more involvement and they also get to servicers on board to increase their participation. She adds on that in coming time they may have more contributors for the all four programs.

The Bank of America has also signed for the principal reduction program and a program that temporarily gives the mortgage payment on behalf of somebody who is out of work.

According to statistics available, till the last 29th April around 162 applicants were referred to the Bank of America by the state and a total of $ 115,000 assistance have been provided.
