Canada, 13th May: According to a latest report, Alberta’s economy will strengthen in the coming year and will provide a big boost to creation of new jobs in the province.

The report by the Conference Board of Canada states that in the year 2011, nearly 72,000 new jobs in Alberta are likely to be created which will push the growth of the region’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) to 4.1 percent. The growth in the economy will be further strengthened by
increased energy investments.
As per the findings by the Provincial Outlook-Spring 2010 report released by the conference board this Monday, manufacturing and construction industries will regain jobs lost during the global economic crisis.
The unemployment rate in the province will go down to 6.3 percent due to strong
labor markets. The mining industry will keep on giving a push to the GDP of Alberta in 2011.
Hence, to fill new jobs in Alberta, Canada immigration will need to allow increased number of talented and skilled Canadian visa holders to live and work in Canada.
According to an economist with the conference board, Todd Crawford, recession is over, at least in Alberta and 2009 was, undoubtedly, the worst year in terms of economic growth.
Crawford, however, added that many companies might still remain cautious of making further investments. But, the scenario will smoothen by 2011 as the wrinkles left by the worst global slowdown get ironed out completely.
As per the forecast by the Conference Board of Canada, Alberta will see nearly 23,000 new jobs created this year. Meanwhile, the rate of unemployment in Alberta will continue to hover around 6.8 percent in the year 2010, the conference board added.
Employment scene has already begun to brighten up in various provinces of Canada with biggest increases being seen in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Alberta and Manitoba respectively.
As per the official figures released by Statistics Canada, the month of April 2010 saw addition of 108,700 new jobs in Canada. New Canadian jobs were added in business, wholesale and retail trade, building and a few other support services. In Alberta alone, a total of 10,000 new jobs were
created.
