Montreal keen to attract those seeking Canada visas

Montreal, Canada, 8th April: A latest study has found that to increase its productivity and to unfold various opportunities for the city, Montreal must attract increased number of new immigrants.

As per the study by Montreal’ chamber de commerce, at present, Montreal suffers from low productivity growth, low rate of population growth and low level of educational performance. Not only this, the level of entrepreneurial activity in this city is astonishingly poor. And the blame for this poor growth in Montreal is being put on poor governance in this region.

Hence, majority of applicants desirous of Canada visas are being advised to live and work in Canada’s Montreal city. At present, population in Montreal, with a growth rate of just about 0.9 percent annually, happens to be the slowest among nearly 30 biggest cities in Canada and even the US although the city is ranked 16th in population (in North America).

Immigration is a vital source of revenue for the Canadian economy since many immigrants holding legal Canada visas establish their businesses in Canada and create income generation not just for themselves but also for the Canadian economy as well.

And since, the rate of new business creation, especially by the immigrants in Canada is far behind Vancouver and Toronto, so, Montreal is being targeted as the best suitable place for new immigrants wanting to settle in any Canadian cities.

Toronto attracts nearly 100,000 new immigrants every year while Montreal, on the other hand, is able to allure just 35,000 new immigrants. The reason for this vast difference between two cities of Canada in terms of new immigrants can be the language barrier felt by new immigrants into Canada.

Since, Toronto happens to be an English-speaking province, hence its one of the obvious choice for many Canada visa holders wanting to live and work in Canada.

Recommendations for improvements in the economic development of Montreal--------

• Increased infrastructure investments, especially in the metro area; and

• Higher level of coordination for better governance by the agencies involved in the development of the economy of Montreal .
