is was stated by Martin Ferguson, Federal Resources Minister. Giving details about this situation expected in several regional Australian cities, Mr. Ferguson stated that the government is in the process of bringing desired improvisations in the regional infrastructure like utilities, schools and roads etc. to help the cities adjust the sudden growth caused by the imminent mining boom in Australia.

To facilitate recruitment and immigration of desired skilled migrants in Australia, manufacturing, mining and processing industries are asking for several changes to the Australian immigration policies. Increased number of skilled migrants will be needed in Australia to fill the workforce needs as Australia heads for next mining boom.

Australia’s future is likely to be more focused on various regional cities of the country, hoped Mr. Ferguson. Increased growth of population will take place in some of the major regional Australian cities and for this; Australian government needs to extend government services to such cities.

He added that Australia needs to allure overseas skilled workers into its regional towns and cities including Queensland and Western Australia to reduce the overwhelming population growth in its capital cities while facilitating contributions towards Australian economy.

In one such step by the Australian government, it joined hands with the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy and the WA Chamber of Commerce to formulate a program for facilitating entry of skilled migrants into WA (Western Australia).

Nicole Roocke, director of the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy, said the alliance will help in filling skills gaps in the workforce of the WA. The partnership will provide an excellent opportunity for the government and the Australian industry to work together for finding the gaps in the workforce needs and meet them successfully.
