Marriage Sham is quite commonly heard of in most of the countries where getting an entry otherwise is an uphill task.
UAE is not untouched by this issue, and as a result there is striking number of cases reported wherein a man is cheated and made to pay through his nose after he gets married to a foreigner.
Marriage used as a money making machine
There are cases when Emirati men marry the foreigners and then later they are made to pay a big price for the same.
There are cases when a father snatched away the child from his mother through the legal proceedings and now the child who has grown up to be a man refuses to support his father. So much so that he is frantically looking for the mother with whom he does not even share a common language because the mother was from a foreign land.
Men falling prey
Foreigner woman aims at getting a UAE visa by marrying an Emirati man, or the aim is to get money. The job becomes easier for them when they become mothers of a child belonging to Emirati men.
A Case Study
A case study has been made which reveals a truth behind many such international marriages. A woman proposes an Emirati man to get married against getting a certain amount of money. When the man refuses to do so in the fear of being caught by the legal authorities she tells him to get married legally and also assures him of divorcing her once the contract between the two gets over.
By then her plans were to obtain permanent residence status in the country and she lures him of providing physical pleasure too. She also assures the man that she would be paying him huge amount of money every year.
She kept to her promise for quite some time and she made all efforts to conceive a baby belonging to this man. After achieving this she did not disclose it to the man.
The man was informed about this only the birth of the baby when he initiated the process of divorce.
The foreigner lady won the case and the man was directed by the court to support the lady financially so that she is comfortable enough to bring up the child as well as look after herself.
The legal price for the mistake
If a man is caught in the crossfire of legal proceeding of marrying a foreign national and then divorcing the wife then he may be made to regret for the rest of his life.
The Court may ask the man to provide every single support to the woman and if she has child or children, she can claim alimony and child support for as long as 20 years.
In addition to this, she would easily obtain permanent residence status and may continue living in the country as peacefully as she must have planned to.
Therefore, men should be careful in their approach if they fall for a foreigner woman or if they are approached by one.
