LCCI states that limiting immigration numbers may harm UK Businesses

Government’s decision for limiting the immigrant’s number may be highly damageable for the UK business firms as many of them are dependent on the specialized overseas labor.

As according to a report presented by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), states that the UK’s economy is highly dependent upon the foreign workers coming to the country. Recently authorities’ have proposed to restrict the coming of non-EU foreign workers in order to limit immigration figures up to just few thousands; such a decision may affect the country’s business industry very badly.

LCCI Reports states:

The recently published report, states that the overseas non-EU workers are now an insignificant part of the country’s economy. It’s been feared that if government adheres to their decision of not accepting the overseas workers, resultantly they may have to face double recession creating further problems for country’s economy.

The report further speaks that immigration reforms are turning out more harmful for the country rather than yielding positive results.

Colin Stanbridge, the Chief Executive, LCCI, speaks that they understand the stress for reducing the immigration figures, but as per the report results UK business may have to suffer on these grounds if they are not allowed to hire overseas immigrants. The situations are expected to be worsened with the passage of time. Further carrying of such decision may hinder the growth of business firms of the country.

Recent report released by LCCI shows that the limiting of non-EU specialized workers may create problems for Country’s business houses rather than doing much good to them.

Employment figures Shows:
Figures show that around 60 per cent of the country’s business hired immigrants from non European countries. Out of them 30 per cent of the employers hired non- EU immigrants because they were well qualified and specialized for successful working of their companies. The businesses hiring immigrants were also of the view point that employing them may help them increase their exports figures. It also further specifies that small scale businesses were found more indulgent in hiring the immigrants as compared to large scale businesses.

Expected Problems:

Government’s this decision is expected to raise loads of problems for the employers, around 25 per cent of the employers have accepted that they will have to face very difficult situations in coming times. They also claimed that would only prefer hiring people with required skills, they may not even hire an EU worker or a UK national if they don’t possess the required qualification or skills.

Government’s Defense:

Defending government, Damian Green, the immigration minister ensures that no doubt they are trying to cut down immigration number, but in no way hindering any talented worker for coming in the country to work. Rather they are attracting more foreign entrepreneurs and investors for opening up new business opportunities in the country.
