Labour Agrees: "Immigration Is Crucial for Britain’s Economy!"
by Vinita Amrit - July 19, 2011
With the population of Britain ready to touch a whopping 700 million by the year 2028, most of the political bigwigs have started to awaken to the fact that immigration to Britain is proving to be a big hindrance to the economy and politico-social fabric of Britain.

Importing Labour and Inviting Problems: Across the countries of Western Europe and also as far away as the USA, leaders have reached a common consensus that the rise in crimes can be attributed to the growing problems of the immigrant problems. Immigrants especially from the poorer countries of Africa and the Indian sub continent pose a serious risk to being the liabilities that can drain the economy of the UK.
In Britain, it is seen that only a handful of immigrants can legally enter the country. Of those who do, some have entered into matrimony and others can just simply ‘buy into’ citizenship. As a matter of fact, the Labour Party has always remained skeptical and strict about giving migrants the free hand to come and settle in the country.
Public Opinion Lies Low (POLL): There have been many polls that were conducted since the 1960’s and many if not all of them have enumerated the issue of immigration as either the number one or one of the highest ranking problems or issues facing the UK. In spite of the fact that immigration relations were not one of the most important issues that was being mentioned by respondents, immigration and related problems were the cornerstone of any issues discussed.
With the boom in industrialization and the ever growing demand for more and more labour for many new industries, the labour class was heavily imported from the poorer countries of Africa and the Indian sub continent. The people who were brought in were more than ready to work at a lesser pay and in even sub human conditions in industries such as mining, building and catering which was the considered the lowest strata of the industry.
Political Ambitions Overruling Welfare: The Labour Party had supported the influx of immigrants as soon as they were elected to power, with a view that these same immigrants would serve as a potential vote bank for the Labour party in the upcoming election. However, even they have started to feel the heat and are supporting the view that immigrants are actually posing to be a liability since although they bring in two hands to work, they also get four mouths to feed.
Boomeranged Policies: The immigration policy that was foreseen as a possible solution to not just the resurgence of the economy and the re-election to power for the Labour Party falling flat on its nose, it is proving to be a wrench in the works for the British polity and economy as well.
