Downgrading Quality – Going through the most recent reports on employment quality from Benjamin Tal, deputy chief economist for CIBC World Markets, one can conclude that getting a job isn’t alright after all. Perpetual Decline – Data from Statistics Canada illustrates that employment in Canada swell by more than 180,000 workers the previous year, but majority of that growth was in the first half of 2011 and employment in fact dipped by 55,000 in the final quarter. Mr. Tal further stated that the slump in employment quality is here to stay and has been continuing for almost two decades. Of all the full-time jobs only 0.4% was high paying.

Greater Competence – Tal also added that the top quality jobs that should be available in years to come will demand greater competence, and he forecasted multi-task, extremely skillful manufacturing posts will be amongst those having to be filled.
