Canada, 16th September: Immigrants in Canada who arrive as children or teenagers have higher rates of job success as compared to those coming to Canada as adults, reveals the latest study.

The rate of success at finding jobs and pay packages among immigrants coming to Canada as minors is almost equal to that of Canada-born, the study by the Institute for Research on Public Policy maintains.
The study showed that arrival of immigrants in Canada at an earlier age helps them in attaining same education as chosen by the native-born Canadians.
Moreover, it also becomes far easier for immigrants choosing to arrive in Canada at an earlier age in the lives to learn and gain proficiency in any of the official languages of Canada, namely French and English, stated one of the lead authors of the stud, Maude Boulet.
Boulet is an expert in industrial relations, Universite de Montreal.
Adults immigrating to Canada taste less success in terms of employment as compared to those arriving as children or teenagers.
Those coming at relatively young age of below 18 years in Canada make almost similar choices as native-Canadians, stated co-author of the study and an industrial relational specialist, Universite de Montreal, Brahim Boudarbat.
Younger immigrants moving to Canada can easily grasp language skills and successfully get integrated in the Canadian culture and way of life, Boudarbat added. Such young immigrants learn same information and pass through almost the same system, he said.
In fact, some cases of immigrants who had immigrated to Canada as minors showed much better rates of success at getting jobs in Canada as compared to Canada-born.
The employment rate of those who moved to Canada as minors was a whopping 92.6 percent while the job rate of those born in Canada having graduation diplomas was 91.8 percent. Those immigrating to Canada as adults showed a 90.6 percent rate of employment in Canada.
The employment rate of those having bachelor’s degrees and having immigrated to Canada as youth was 94.2 percent, while the employment rate of Canadian-born with bachelors degrees was 91.5 percent and the employment rate of those who came to Canada as adults having bachelors degrees was 81.6 percent.
