Canada, 10th September: Canada immigration department is investing in new programs for helping settlement of immigrants in Canadian province B.C.(British Columbia).

As per the available figures, investments to the tune of $500,000 are being made for successful settlement of foreigners immigrating to Abbotsford in Canada.
Apart from enabling immigrants settle in this area, the new investment programs also aim to bring desired improvements in relations between various ethnic communities living in Abbotsford.
A local MP while speaking on behalf of Canadian immigration minister Jason Kenney said that the target of immigrant investment programs by Canadian government is to remove any obstacles in the way of intercultural understanding and lasting relationships among ethnocultural communities in Canada.
$434,000 have been earmarked to be spent over a period of three years to bring diverse communities of Abbotsford closer, the Conservative local MP Ed Fast stated at a press conference on Tuesday outside International Friendship Garden.
This is an investment in the future which can keep us growing through our shared history, values and institutes, Fast asserted.
Named the Abbotsford Building Connections Program, the investment project for developing of two intercultural hubs in Canada’s Abbotsford west is going to be useful for around 3,500 residents, the local MP added.
By intertwining groups belonging to diverse faiths, neighborhoods, businesses and schools, the project aims to help all of them come and join in activities together. The project will also oversee the growth of services and programs dedicated to make meaningful relations between various ethnocultural groups in Abbotsford. Some of the other projects to be developed in the coming times are activities related to arts and storytelling, intercultural recreation and mentoring of youth at high-risk.
According to Mayor George Peary, it’s great to have the help and support of Canadian government in this project. He added that by having collaborations between various partners for strengthening the community’s social cohesion, the project will have tremendous effect on Abbotsford.
The project is being supported by CIC’s (Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s) Multiculturalism Grants and Contributions Program for promotion of better intercultural understanding and opportunities for all people.
